Blessed by the Sea by Ms. Klisouris’s Class

After an exciting morning collaborating to create a character and a setting, this class wrote the beginning of a story together (below) before individually writing their own endings.

In the year 2040, in the country of Hi Hi Hawaii, there was a 16-year-old boy who crash-landed from the planet Pandora many years ago. The village leader found him in the spaceship as a baby. The spaceship was filled with water, so the leader decided to name him after the water god, “Ray Douglas.” One day, his brother Joseph went far out into the ocean, and he heard him cry, “Help, help!” Ray jumped into the water, and in his panic, his water-bending powers became activated. He created a huge wave and pulled Joseph to the shore. In his exhaustion, he passed out, but because he was omnipotent, he survived …
