Joey the Magical Alien Knight
One day, there is a magical, alien knight-in-training named Joey. Joey is very cowardly. He is not like the other knights who are stronger and braver than he is. Joey is afraid of everything: bugs, loud noises, and even trees!
Joey is sent on an official quest by the head knight to strengthen his bravery and complete his training. He’s sent to The Cancer Tree Forest! Joey begins his quest and is afraid. There are bugs, trees and—CRUNCH—loud noises! “What was that?” he thinks to himself.
Joey slowly turns to see what is behind him and is terrified when he realizes the Cancer Tree has found him in the forest. The Cancer Tree calmly says, “Don’t be afraid of me, I will not hurt you. If you tap me twice, you will not be cursed. Nothing will happen to you.”
The knight suddenly wakes from his sleep, realizing he was having a nightmare. He turns his head to look around him and notices he is sitting in the middle of a witch’s house.
The witch is in the middle of the kitchen, brewing potions. One of the potions must have given Joey a nightmare! He recognizes her fearless pet burrito sitting nearby, with a collar that says Chihuahua. Chihuahua stands up to block the door so that Joey cannot escape. Joey is shaking with fear! He is unsure of how he will get away from the witch and her magic.
Joey sees a magical snake locked in a small cage on the witch’s desk. Joey has seen snakes like this before, as they are often stolen by witches for their rare, magical abilities.
“Psst! Psst!” the magical snake whispers to Joey. “The key to my cage is in the witch’s pocket. If you can grab the key, I will use my magic to set you free.”
Joey nods, holds his breath, and with shaky hands, he crawls towards the witch who is turned the other way stirring her cauldron. He sees the edge of the key poking out of her pocket and lifts it gently with two fingers.
Joey crawls towards the desk and sticks the key into the snake’s locked cage. With a quiet click, the cage opens and the snake is released.
“Thank you, good sir! My name is Chocolate, and I have been trapped in the witch’s cage for 100 days. Please, what is your name?” the snake asks.
“I’m Joey,” he replies.
“Thank you, Joey. You must be the bravest I have ever met,” says Chocolate.
Joey looks down. He doesn’t think he is brave because he is not strong. “Let’s go,” says Joey.
Chocolate explains to Joey that being brave doesn’t mean you’re never scared—it means you keep going even when you are. Chocolate’s magic turns himself into a dragon or an insect with a stinger. He stings people when they’re being bad. Chocolate stings the witch. Chihuahua follows Joey and Chocolate because he wants to be their friend.
The witch heals herself from the sting and tries to chase after Joey and his new friends. The witch sees a fake decoy of Chihuahua that Joey placed and she gets trapped, so Joey and his friends are able to escape once again.
Suddenly the world is trapped in eternal night. The witch had control of the world because she owned it all, and her final wish before she got trapped was to put the world in total darkness. Now no one can see a thing!
Joey and his friends navigate the darkness by calling for their dear friend Nugget, and by using flashlights. Some people feel their way around with their hands, too. A new witch moves to the Cancer Forest, and she’s worse than the old one!
There are werewolves that can help them, since the werewolves have power from the moon, to save the world from complete darkness. The light from the moon can help make it through the dark.
The werewolves team up with Joey, Chocolate, Chihuahua, Nugget and Cancer Tree, since the new witch is very scared of the Cancer Tree. The witch sees in the crystal ball that Cancer trees are coming for her, so she freezes all the Cancer trees that exist. Joey and his friends know how to reverse the freeze spell, and the Cancer Trees surround the witch instead.
The new witch of the Cancer Forest drops the crystal that was making the world covered in night, and this makes the crystal crack, which lets the world have light again. The witch is angry with them, so she casts a spell on herself to make everyone stay away from her forever.
Joey heads back to the camp and meets with the Head Knight.
“So, have you learned to be brave now? Have you stopped being afraid?” says the Head Knight, laughing.
“I was afraid almost every step of the way. Afraid of the trees, the witch, the loud noises. But I didn’t let fear stop me. That’s what makes me brave—not the battles, but the choice to keep going.”
The knights nod, realizing Joey has passed his test.
