After-School Program Launches with Children’s Book Bank

We’re warming up this winter with after-school fun at The Children’s Book Bank’s Yorkgate Mall location. Our eight-session ComicMaker program brings together 15 Grades 4 and 5 students from the Jane and Finch community to dive into the world of comics, including creating original comics of their own.

Led by artists and facilitators Hilary Leung and Joseph Bonsu, participants are exploring visual storytelling, character, dialogue, and layout, building confidence and creative voice along the way. The program will wrap up with a celebratory Comic Con, where young creators can share their work and celebrate everything they’ve learned.

We’re thrilled to be launching this partnership with The Children’s Book Bank, whose welcoming new Yorkgate Mall space and deep commitment to literacy and access to books make this program possible. Their work supporting children and families through free books and community-centred programming is truly inspiring!
